Bendigo 2019 An excited group escaped Melbourne for the sunny? ambience of Bendigo in the middle of July.
ON a glorious autumn day, many of us ventured to Montalsalvat in Eltham to view an Exhibition by Plush! and Pat Jones. We were fortunate to be shown the exhibition by both Christina, one of the weavers, and Pat, who made the garments. Their creations had warps made of Australian wool, processed in Italy, wefts of Indian silk, selected and tested for quality, all dyed by Virginia. Christina explained some of the creative process, including showing us her story board (photo below) which demonstrated the extensive work involved in the creation of these garments. This is a selection of some of the items and part of the grounds of Montsalvat. We were inspired and hope to see the results of this in our own weaving in the coming months. A NOTE FROM COBRAM-BAROUGAWe would like to congratulate you all for the weekend conference. It was a very happy, enjoyable and inspiring weekend, with very friendly people. There was a very happy positive vibe throughout the weekend. (Thank you for this kind note: it was greatly appreciated.) OVERHEARD
Ruth from Lara: Marvellous weekend, great
food and plenty of it, good workshops, terrific companionship. A lovely
weekend.
Maureen from Cobram: loved “catching up
with old friends.” She hopes everyone will enjoy coming to Cobram-Barouga next
year. Accommodation will be at the RACV Club. Planning is well underway for a
great time.
Elisabeth from WSW: The honey badgers were so funny! Elaine: I've been to many of these conferences. Great! But so much food! Barbara from Box Hill: Charly's talk about her early years, her family and the traditions of the rugs from the New Mexico Navajo was fascinating. Wonderful stories! Annette from Ballarat: reminiscing about one of the earlier conferences at Healesville: The accommodation was all over the place, some good, some not so good. But the funniest thing was the dinner at Healesville Sanctuary. They had put up canvas to protect us from the elements. Unfortunately, they didn't check out where all the animals were. We had just been served the soup, when a possum's piddle rained down over the table. "I love coming to these weekends."

| Mission to Seafarers April 20197 members spent a lovely afternoon at the Mission, demonstrating the spinning and weaving crafts as part of the Practice makes Perfect exhibition over the weekend. The 100 year old Heritage building is architecturally significant and is considered a fine urban example of the Arts and Crafts Style in Melbourne. Visitors are encouraged to explore the Norla Dome, learn the history of the Chapel, peak inside long-lost nooks and discover the hidden garden and courtyard.
